24V to 12V 400W DC Inverter Circuit Diagram 24V to 12V 20A 400W DC to DC Inverter. Does little to change my PV system 12v 24v me the problem arose of what to do with investors who already had 12V. I was looking for a pattern online and found several schemes with linear regulators 20A, this solution although quite simple, due to the huge losses they have is not advisable. Ideally, a converter switched, high-performance. At the end I found nothing I liked and decided to design my own. Circuit characteristics: Output current: 20A at 12V (15A continuous and 30A Momentary), Input voltage: 18 to 30V DC, Output voltage: 5 to 20V, Operating Frequency: 70kHz, Effectiveness: 95%, 400W maximum power, Protections: Above current (30A) in the F1 circuit, D1 and F1 polarity in the circuit.

22W Amplifier for 12V Power Supply Systems

Image
This is a 22-W Amplifier circuit that is designed for or 12-V DC power supply Systems. There are many application for  this circuit,  such as in car audio  application. In car electrical  power supply system, the 12V power supply will be provided by the host vehicle’s battery.  The capacitor C3 is used to give ripple rejection, since noisy power supply voltage is common in automotive electrical system. The power supply noise signal on car power supply is decoupled by the capacitors C2 and C1.  Smaller capacitor C2 is needed to decouple the high frequency noise, since the larger cap (C1) usually has high equivalent series inductance that prevent the high frequency noise  (such as glitch or spike) to be bypassed.  The capacitors C5 couple the incoming audio signal to IC1 while decoupling static DC offset. For better bass response, this circuit prevent rolling off of the low audio frequencies by choosing a relatively large capacitance for small sign...

12V Car Charger For ASUS Eee Notebook

Image
The ASUS Eee is a fantastic ultra-portable notebook with almost everything required for geeks (and nothing that isn’t). Plus it features fantastic build quality and is very well priced. If you live in New Zealand you can get them from DSE; at the time of writing they are the exclusive supplier. I worked out it’s the same cost as importing one once you include all the duties and tax, plus you get the advantage of a proper NZ-style mains charger. Anyway, being so small I thought it would be nice to be able to carry this around in the car. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a car charger available anywhere at the time so I decided to tackle the problem myself. As a bonus this provides an opportunity for an external high-capacity battery. Commercial Equivalent: I thought at this stage it would be worth noting that a commercial car charger is now available for less than it cost me to build this from Expansys and is available in most countries (select your location on their site). It outputs 9.5v...

12V Speed Controller Dimmer Circuit Diagram

Image
This handy circuit can be used as a speed controller for a 12V motor rated up to 5A (continuous) or as a dimmer for a 12V halogen or standard incandescent lamp rated up to 50W. It varies the power to the load (motor or lamp) using pulse width modulation (PWM) at a pulse frequency of around 220Hz.  SILICON CHIP has produced a number of DC speed controllers over the years, the most recent being our high-power 24V 40A design featured in the March & April 2008 issues. Another very popular design is our 12V/24V 20A design featured in the June 1997 issue and we have also featured a number of reversible 12V designs.   Project Image :   12V Speed Controller/Dimmer Project Image For many applications though, most of these designs are over-kill and a much simpler circuit will suffice. Which is why we are presenting this basic design which uses a 7555 timer IC, a Mosfet and not much else. Being a simple design, it does not monitor motor back-EMF to provide improved speed regul...

Scalable 12V Solar Power System and Battery Charge Controller

Image
An unconventional, scalable high efficiency 12V solar power system and battery charge controller with low voltage cutout to protect the battery. (ideal for systems of 50W or less). The most common solar charger consists of a Schottky diode to prevent the battery from draining into the PV panel and a shunt regulator that effectively short circuits the panel once the battery is fully charged. One problem with this approach is diode losses and the resulting heat. If a 50W 12V panel supplies 4A to the battery, the Schottky diode will drop about 0,4V across it dissipating about 1,6W of heat. This requires a heat sink and loses power to heat. The problem is that there is no way of reducing the volt drop, paralleling diodes may share current, but the 0,4V will still be there. The circuit uses a MOSFET in stead of the usual diode and the primary power loss is resistive. [ ]

Cheap 12V to 220V Inverter Circuit Project

Image
Cheap 12V to 220V Inverter Circuit Diagram . Even though today’s electrical appliances are increasingly often self-powered, especially the portable ones you carry around when camping or holidaying in summer, you do still sometimes need a source of 230 V AC - and while we’re about it, why not at a frequency close to that of the mains? As long as the power required from such a source remains relatively low - here we’ve chosen 30 VA - it’s very easy to build an inverter with simple, cheap components that many electronics hobbyists may even already have. Though it is possible to build a more powerful circuit, the complexity caused by the very heavy currents to be handled on the low-voltage side leads to circuits that would be out of place in this summer issue. Let’s not forget, for example, that just to get a meager 1 amp at 230 VAC, the battery primary side would have to handle more than 20 ADC!. The circuit diagram of our project is easy to follow. A classic 555 timer chip, identified as...

Build a Simple 12v to 9v converter

Image
This little circuit uses a LM317 variable voltage regulator to adjust the input voltage down to +9 volt, or whatever else you need. Just a solid basic circuit without bells and whistles. You can do with a 10uF capacitor for C1 if your battery is close to this circuit. If it is located more than 3 feet increase the value to 100uF or above. Without a coolrib it can easily handle 500mA. If you need more, or the maximum current (1.5A), then a good coolrib is required. Trimmer potent meter R3 will vary the output voltage. Ceramic capacitor C2 improves frequency/transient response. Can be omitted if not needed for your application. If you want extra protection in case the adjust pin is short circuited, add an extra 1N4001 diode over the input and the output. Cathode to input. But normally only used if the output is way over 25V. R1 and R3 determine the output voltage. You can adapt them for your own needs and applications. Use the following formula: (((R1+R3)/R2)+1)*1.25=V-out which...

12V Fan Directly on 220V AC

Image
This circuit idea is certainly not new, but when it comes to making a trade-of between using a small, short-circuit proof transformer or a capacitive voltage divider (directly from 230 V mains voltage) as the power supply for a fan, it can come in very handy. If forced cooling is an afterthought and the available options are limited then perhaps there is no other choice. At low currents a capacitive divider requires less space than a small, short-circuit proof transformer. R1 and R2 are added to limit the inrush current into power supply capacitor C2 when switching on. Because the maximum rated operating voltage of resistors on hand is often not known, we choose to have two resistors for the current limit. The same is true for the discharge resistors R3 and R4 for C1. If the circuit is connected to a mains plug then it is not allowed that a dangerous voltage remains on the plug, hence R3 and R4. Circuit diagram: Capacitor C1 determines the maximum current that can be supplied. Above th...

High Performance 12V 20W Stereo Amplifier

Image
High-Performance 12V 20W Stereo Amplifier . Amplifiers which run from 12V DC generally don’t put out much power and they are usually not hifi as well. But this little stereo amplifier ticks the power and low distortion boxes. With a 14.4V supply, it will deliver 20 watts per channel into 4-ohm loads at clipping while harmonic distortion at lower power levels is typically less than 0.03%. This is an ideal project for anyone wanting a compact stereo amplifier that can run from a 12V battery. It could be just the ticket for buskers who want a small but gutsy amplifier which will run from an SLA battery or it could used anywhere that 12V DC is available – in cars, recreational vehicles, remote houses with 12V DC power or where ever. 20W Stereo Audio Amplifier Because it runs from DC, it will be an ideal beginner’s or schoolie’s project, with no 240VAC power supply to worry about. You can run it from a 12V battery or a DC plugpack. But while it may be compact and simple to build, there is n...

12V fixed voltage power supply circuit diagram

Here this circuit diagram is for +12V regulated (fixed voltage) DC power supply. These power supply circuit diagram is ideal for an average current requirement of  1Amp. This  circuit is based on IC LM7812. It is a 3-terminal (+ve) voltage regulator IC. It has short circuit  protection , thermal overload protection.  LM7812 IC is from LM78XX series. The LM78XX series IC is  positive voltage regulator IC for different voltage requirements, for example LM7805 IC is made for 5 volt fixed output voltage . There is LM79XX IC series for negative voltage . Circuit diagram of 12V fixed voltage power supply   A transformer(Tx=Primary 230 Volt, Secondary 12 Volt , 1Amp step down transformer) is used to covert 230V to 12V from mains. Here used a bridge rectifier made by four  1N4007 or 1N4003 diode to convert AC to DC . The filtering capacitor 1000uF,25V is used to reduce the ripple and  get a smooth DC voltage. This circuit is very easy to build. For good p...
