Rear Light After Glow Circuit Diagram

Image
This article is of interest only to readers whose bicycle lights are powered by a dynamo. The laws on bicycle lights in the United Kingdom are stricter than in other countries and a dynamo is, therefore, a rarity in this country. From the point of view of traffic safety it is advisable (in UK obligatory) for cyclists to have the rear lamp of their bicycle to light even when they are at standstill. In principle, it is not very difficult to modify the existing rear light with afterglow: all this needs is a large enough energy reservoir. Since the after-glow is required for short periods of time only, a battery is not required: a large value capacitor, say, 1 F, is quite sufficient. As the circuit diagram shows, in the present circuit, the normal rear light bulb is replaced by two series-connected bright LEDs, D2 and D3. These are clearly visible with a current of only 6 mA (compared with 50 mA of the bulb). The current is set with series resistor R1. The LEDs are shunted by the 1 F cap...

Photocell based night light

Image
Description. Many automatic night light circuits had been published here. This one uses a photocell for detecting the light intensity. At full light the resistance of the photocell will be few ten ohms and at darkness it will rise to several hundred ohms. The IC1 uA741 is wired as a comparator here. At darkness the resistance of photocell increases and so the voltage at the inverting input of the IC1 will be less than the reference voltage at the non inverting input. The output of the IC1 goes to positive saturation and it switches ON the transistor to activate the relay. By this way the lamp connected through the relay contact glows. The diode D1 works as a freewheeling diode. Circuit diagram. Notes. The circuit can be assembled on a Vero board. Use 9V DC for powering the circuit. POT R7 can be used to adjust the sensitivity of the circuit. The relay K1 can be a 9V, 200 Ohm SPDT type. L1 can be a 230V,60W lamp. R8 can be a ORP 12 photocell.

This is the Simple Light Detector Circuit Diagram. Variable resistor R1 adjusts the light threshold at which the circuit triggers. R1's value is chosen to match the photocells resistance at darkness. The circuit uses a CMOS 4001 IC. Gate U1a acts as the trigger, U1b and c form a latch. S1 resets the circuit. The output device may be a low power piezo buzzer.  Simple Light Detector Circuit Diagram   Author:   Mick Devine, UK

Low Cost Garage Stop Light

Image
A novel use of solar cells makes positioning your car in the garage rather easier than old tyres, a mirror, or a chalk mark. The six solar cells in figure 1 serve as power supply and as proximity sensor. They are commercially available at relative low cost. The voltage developed across potentiometer Pi is mainly dependent on the intensity of the light falling onto the cells. The circuit is only actuated when the main beam of one of the car's headlights shines direct onto the cells from a distance of about 200 mm (8 inches). The distance can be varied somewhat with P, Low Cost Garage Stop Light Circuit Diagram : Under those conditions, the voltage developed across C1 is about 3 V, which is sufficient to trigger relaxation oscillator Ni. The BC547B is then switched on via buffer N2 so that D3 begins to lfash. Diodes Di and D2 provide an additional in-crease in the threshold of the circuit. The total voltage drop of 1.2 V across them ensures that the potential at pin I of the 4093 is ...

Emergency Light using Phone Line Circuit Diagram

Image
This is a circuit for emergency lighting with LEDs that uses electricity from the telephone line . Generally the phone line has a DC voltage 48V and somewhere around 20 mA , and when the phone rings , the voltage rises to 96V AC . This works in a way that the phone line will not be busy while the LEDs are turned on and when you pick up the phone , the light goes off and lets you use your phone normally .  Emergency Light using Phone Line Circuit Diagram

Push Bike Light Circuit Diagram

Automatic switch-on when it gets dark, 6V or 3V battery operation This design was primarily intended to allow automatic switch-on of push-bike lights when it gets dark. Obviously, it can be used for any other purpose involving one or more lamps to be switched on and off depending of light intensity. Power can be supplied by any type of battery suitable to be fitted in your bike and having a voltage in the 3 to 6 Volts range. The Photo resistor R1 should be fitted into the box containing the complete circuit, but a hole should be made in a convenient side of the box to allow the light hitting the sensor. Trim R2 until the desired switching threshold is reached. The setup will require some experimenting, but it should not be difficult. Automatic Emergency Light

Image
This is the simple circuit of automatic emergency light . It is called dark dependent circuit. A 555 timer IC and LDR is used for this configuration. When light fall on the LDR, its resistance is decrease and in dark position its resistance is going high. Using these characteristics of LDR, automatic emergency light is made. LDR is called Light Dependent Resistor. Its resistance is inversely proportional to the falling light on its surface. In dark, its resistance is approximately 7k to 10k. When light fall on its surface, its resistance is decrease to less than 1k. In the circuit, a voltage divider arrangement circuit is used here with LDR and 10K variable resistor. When light fall on the surface of LDR, the resistance decrease to 1k. So the voltage of the timer pin-6 is greater than 2/3 of +Vcc. For this reason the output pin-3 goes low. The base voltage of transistor BC547 is less than 0.75 volt. The transistor is OFF state. So the light is OFF. In dark position the LDR resistan...

The series of light switches this time slightly different from the voltage of work. The series of light switches can work directly on the AC power network. Light switches are using the main component of TRIAC and LDR. The circuit is very simple and the components were sold in the market. If you want a light reception sensitivity of this circuit can be arranged then the 3.3 MOhm resistor can be replaced with a variable resistor. For more details can be seen from the following series of images. Circuit Diagram With Triac Light Switch series is prisipkerjanya as dimers, but dimers control performed by the reception of light around the LDR. The lower the intensity cayaha received LDR then semkin bright lights. For installation LDR need to be considered so as not exposed to light from the lamp directly.

Automatic Bathroom Light with Back up Lamp Circuit Diagram

Image
Sometimes we forget to switch off the bathroom light and it remains on unnoticed for long periods. This circuit solves the problem of electricity wastage by switching off the lamp automatically after 30 minutes once it is switched on. The back-up LED lamp provided in the circuit turns on for three minutes when mains fails. This is helpful especially when you are taking a shower at night. The circuit is built around binary counter CD4060 (IC2), which has a built-in oscillator and 14 cascaded bistable multivibrators. The oscillator generates clock pulses based on the values of resistors R3 and R4 and capacitor C3. Automatic Bathroom Light with Back-up Lamp Circuit Diagram   For the given values, Q11 output of IC2 goes high after 30 minutes of power-on. Resistor R2 resets the IC for proper operation. The output of IC2 is fed to the gate of the SCR via resistor R6 and LED2, which function as a voltage dropper as well as output status indicator. When the SCR gets gate drive, it fires to...

How to build Put That Light Out

Image
Description If you forget to switch off the light after leaving a seldom used room (such as the loft), there’s a strong likelihood that it could remain lit for months, running up an expensive power bill in the process. How can we prevent this waste? It’s not hard for electronics enthusiasts to design a little circuit to mitigate the effects of absentmindedness. The notion is simple; if the light is left on when the hatch or door is closed, a rhythmic sounder/buzzer signal produces an alarm that hopefully will not be masked by other noise. The circuit is powered as long as the lamp bulb is switched on by light switch S1. If the reed switch S2 then signals that the hatch has been closed, the sounder operates. The red LED, mounted outside the loft next to the entry hatch, also indicates that the lamp up there needs to be switched off. The circuit does not use a transformer, meaning that the whole circuit is at mains potential. For this reason the components must be placed inside an insu...

Timer light switch

Image
Tiny Timer Light Switch presented here is a simple transistorised electronic timer which drives a high efficiency white LED for a finite time out. This circuit is very useful for in-car reading etc. The circuit works off 12 volt dc supply. After construction, fit the unit at a suitable location inside your car and power the circuit from the in-dash standard cigar lighter socket. The timer light switch is ultra simple, economic, straight forward and self explanatory. Timer light switch Circuit Diagram : the timer light switch works? Normally T1 is turned off by P1 and R2. When the trigger switch S1 is pressed the base of T1 is connected to the +12V supply via R2. Now T1 turns on and this action turns on the next transistor T2 which in turn energises the white LED (D2). Resistor R4 limits the operating current of white LED (D2). When the switch is pressed is current also flows into capacitor C1 (through R1) and charges it. So when the switch S1 is released the charge in the capaci...

Hg Lamp to a Powerful UV Light Source

Image
I got myself some UV-curable solder mask for my PCB workshop, and as soon as i got it, i discovered that my UV artwork transfer box is totally incapable to activate the UV paint and cure it. I began searching the net for powerful UV lamps, and then it hit me: Some months ago i uploaded a theory regarding the Cold and Hot cathode discharge lamps. During my research for these lamps i found out that they can provide directly visible light (lamps without internal coating), or they produce UV radiation. The lamps that produce UV radiation have an extra coating on their internal surface which glows when excited by the UV rays, thus producing light! [ ]

Light Emitting Diodes LEDs

Image
Function LEDs emit light when an electric current passes through them. Connecting and soldering LEDs must be connected the correct way round, the diagram may be labelled   a   or   +   for anode and   k   or   -   for cathode (yes, it really is k, not c, for cathode!). The cathode is the short lead and there may be a slight flat on the body of round LEDs. If you can see inside the LED the cathode is the larger electrode (but this is not an official identification method). LEDs can be damaged by heat when soldering, but the risk is small unless you are very slow. No special precautions are needed for soldering most LEDs.  Testing an LED Never connect an LED directly to a battery or power supply!   It will be destroyed almost instantly because too much current will pass through and burn it out. LEDs must have a resistor in series to limit the current to a safe value, for quick testing purposes a 1k  resistor is suitable for most LEDs ...

Battery operated emergency light Circuit Diagram

Image
This is the Simple Battery operated emergency light Circuit Diagram. This simple circuit providers battery operated emergency lighting instantaneously upon failure of the regular ac service. When line power is restored, the emergency light turns off and the battery recharges automatically. Simple Battery operated emergency light Circuit Diagram     The circuit is ideal for use in elevator cars, corridors and similar places where loss of light due to power failure would be undesirable. Completely static in operation, the circuit requires no maintenance. With ac power on, capacitor CI charges through rectifier CRI and resistor Rl to develop a negative voltage at the gate of the C106Y SCR . By this means, the SCR is prevented from being triggered, and the emergency light stays off. At the same time, the battery is kept fully charged by rectifier CR2 and resistor R2. Should the ac power fail, CI discharges and the SCR is triggered on by battery power through resistor R3. Th...
