Voice Activated Home Automation

Voice recognition is no longer in infancy, especially since Siri just launched on the new iPhone 4S (although similar technology is available on Android too. This project shows you how to use it to automate your home without spending big bucks. The core of this project is a VRBot speech recognition module.  Next, the project creator used some low-cost wireless light switches (you could also use relays).  The VRBot speech recognition module recognizes 32 custom voice commands.  Once a command is recognized, a wireless switch is activated via a radio receiver.  The setup is simple after you spend some time understanding the wireless communication protocol between the different modules.  See the project blog to engineer the whole thing yourself.

Remote Controlled Home Appliances project using ATmega8

First of all I would like to thank Avinash Gupta for writing all the valuable tutorials and libraries for AVR Microcontrollers and helping people like me to build projects and learn new things. I am dedicating this post to him!   Introduction: Using remote keys from 1 to 4, you can control 4 appliances. You can easily extend this number to as many you wish. For example, if you press key_1 on your remote, fan will turn ON. If you press the same key again, fan will turn OFF i.e each time you press a key configured for an appliance, the condition will toggle. I have programmed the MCU such that all devices will turn OFF on pressing power button(RED COLOR on top of your remote). You can also choose combinations like turning all fans OFF at a time, etc. With little tweaking, you can change the program yourself! The status of the appliances is shown in an LCD. This is a Simple Home Alarm Circuit Using 555 IC's . This circuit can be simplified by using a single 74C14 IC. This IC is also known by the following numbers: 40106, 40014, and 74HC14.  These are CMOS chips and are characterised by low current consumption, high input impedance and a supply voltage from 5v to 15v. (Do not substitute 7414 or  74LS14. They are TTL chips and operate on 4.5v to 5.5v and have low impedance inputs.)  Simple Home Alarm Circuit Diagram The 74C14 contains 6 Schmitt Trigger gates and 4 of these gates (Schmitt Inverters) are used in this circuit.
