Applications of CRO
A CRO has large number of applications in measuring electrical and electronic quantities. Some of the important applications are as follows:
1. Laboratory applications:
(A) Examination of waveform
(B) Voltage measurement
(C) Current measurement
(D) Measurement of time period
(E) Measurement of frequency
(F) Measurement of phase
(G) Depth of modulation measurement
(H) Pulse measurement.
2. Radio applications
(A) Gives visual display of wave shapes
(B) Traces transistor, Diode, FET characteristics curves.
(C) Used for tracing and measuring signals throughout the RF, IF and AF channels of radio and T.V receivers.
(D) It gives a visual representation of the compositive video signal.
(E) It is used for adjusting FM receivers, broadband high frequency RF amplifiers and AFC circuits.
(F) It displays the response of tuned circuits and other circuits.
3. Scientific and Engineering applications:
(A) Determination of modulating index
(B) For finding B/H curves for hysteresis loop
(C) To display radiation patterns of antenna
(D) For engine pressure analysis
(E) For adjusting stress, strain, acceleration, torque etc.
(F) To study standing waves in transmission lines
(G) To determine amplifier gain
(H) To study complex waveforms using fourier analysis.
